Who we are

The company behind Windrift is named in the privacy policy. Write to hello@windrift.net.

What this is

Windrift is a derived forecast. It takes public numerical weather models, compares them against what stations actually measured, and shows you the spread. It is not an official forecast and it is not a warning service.

What it is not for

Do not use Windrift for navigation, or for any decision where being wrong hurts someone. No forecast is a substitute for looking at the water, and none of ours is issued by a national meteorological service. If an official warning disagrees with this site, the official warning is right.

Your account

Keep your sign-in link to yourself; anyone holding it can open your account for the twenty minutes it lives. Do not use the service to send sign-in links to addresses that are not yours. We rate-limit that, and we will close accounts that keep trying.

The data

Model data comes from the providers named at the foot of every page, under their own licences, and is modified by us. Bathing water ratings come from the European Environment Agency's register and from national programmes. You may quote and link to anything here; please do not re-publish the underlying provider data as if it were yours, because their licences, not ours, govern that.

Windrift Pro

Pro is a monthly or yearly subscription, paid through Stripe. It renews automatically until you cancel; cancelling stops the next renewal and Pro stays on until the end of the period already paid. You can cancel at any time from the link in your Stripe receipt or from the Pro page. If Pro does not work for you within 14 days of buying it, write to us and we will refund it.

No warranty

The service is provided as it is, with no guarantee that it is available, correct, or fit for anything in particular. ECMWF, whose model is one of several behind the consensus, accepts no liability for errors or omissions in its data, their availability, or any loss arising from their use. Neither do we.

Changes

If these terms change materially, the change will be dated on this page before it takes effect.
